I Kings 1:38–I
Kings 3:23
GOD
SAVE THE KING!
I Kings 1:39
"And Zadok the
priest took an horn of oil out of the tabernacle, and
anointed Solomon. And they blew the trumpet, and all the
people said, God save king Solomon."
It was a great day of rejoicing! His
ascension to the throne did not come easily. Even though
David had promised Solomon’s mother, Bathsheba, that
their son would be king, ADONIJAH had other ideas. He
was already parading around as the ruler of the land
with ABIATHAR, the priest and, JOAB, David’s Captain of
the host aiding and abetting his rise to the Throne. If
you remember, his mother was HAGGITH, and his brother
was the slain ABSALOM–the handsome son for whom David
had grieved. In some ways we cannot blame ADONIJAH as
his father had never called him on such an assumption (I
Kings 1:5-7). Perhaps in his old age and failing health,
David did not comprehend what was going on in his
kingdom.
When NATHAN, the prophet, realized
that ADONIJAH was proceeding with his inaugural
celebrations, he approached BATHSHEBA in alarm. He
informed Solomon’s mother about the formal proceedings,
telling her that "David our lord knoweth it not!"
So Bathsheba came to David’s sick room. She reminded her
husband that he had promised her years ago that their
son SOLOMON would be king after David. Yes, David
remembered! Soon Nathan entered the room, explaining the
situation. Then David commanded, "Let Zadok, the
priest, and Nathan the prophet anoint Solomon king over
Israel. Blow the trumpet and say GOD SAVE THE KING!"

"OUR GOD
FOREVER"
(Psalm 48:12-13)
Walk around
Zion.
Go round about
her.
Tell the tower
thereof.
Mark well her
bulwarks.
Consider her
palaces (to tell).
This God is
our Gd forever.
He will be our
guide even unto death.
A study of
types and shadows speak of Heaven.
I also speaks of
the Glorious Church.
THIS IS OUR GOD
FOREVER!
It is a
sustaining statement.
And
Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him.
And they said unto him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he
said, Behold, in the tent. And he said, I will certainly
return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo,
Sarah thy wife shall have a son. (Genesis 18:10)
