My Daily Blessing from My Daily Bible Reading with meditations by my mother, Poetess Gertrude Sanborn JANUARY 22 Exodus 10:8 -- Exodus 13:2 MOSES REMEMBERED BY HIS PEERS Exodus 11:3 "Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh’s servants, and in the sight of the people" Perhaps you would not choose this verse as important because, in future chapters, we will read of the death of all the first-born of every house, barn, and field in the land of Egypt. Only those who applied the blood of a lamb would be spared. I was impressed with the fact that Moses, with one more plague in the wings, was well thought-of in that land of soon-coming death and tears. The Egyptian people must have remembered him when he was a youth. They remember him when he lived in the previous Pharaoh’s palace. For some reason they liked him. The children and young people of Moses’ former days had now grown up into adults. They had matured as Moses grew in grace, laboring with sheep and wind there in the area of his "burning bush" experience. They remembered him. How could they forget the story of the baby pulled from the Nile by the Princess? Even then, God was grooming the leader who would deliver his oppressed people! Perhaps they did not accept the message of a soon-coming DESTROYER. But they knew Moses! They may not have understood their nation’s approaching, unexplainable grief, but the common people saw Moses as a "great" man. No wonder their women showered the Deliverer of Israel with jewelry of silver and gold! (ysw) "SAFETY" (Psalm 4:8) I will both lay me down in peace and sleep "For thou, Lord, only maketh me dwell in safety!" To be able to go to bed at night Knowing that we are under the blood –Justified and declared righteous-– Should give us peace and rest and relaxation. HE ONLY MAKES ME DWELL SAFELY! (GGS) And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him. And they said unto him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he said, Behold, in the tent. And he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. (Genesis 18:10) Under God's Care, Yvonne S. Waite
